Not sure that I want to disable the entire notification part of the program just because one part of it is annoying, you know? That is true it would do that yes, but if u perfer I can download the program and see what I can do :. Why not?! If nothing else, you could test it out and see if it's as good to you as others say it is.
So I've turned off the icon and notifications for PrivateFirewall and it seems that when I did, my computer automatically turned ON Windows Firewall, which I do not want. I did not stop the PrivateFirewall program from running silently in the background which is what I was hoping would happen nor did I go into the security settings and manually turn it OFF. So after figuring this out only this morning, I had to go back and turn ON the icon and notifications for PrivateFirewall, as this was the only way to get the program to be recognized by my computer.
Very strange. I've never experienced a program being completely overridden by a windows program just for having the icon and notifications turned off. In my experience with computers it shouldn't have turned it off, but thank you for telling me so i know for furture reference. Ill download the program tomoz and check it out and see what i can do. I can't really do it at the moment since I'm super busy this weekend sorry :P. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.

The Windows time service will not work without svchost having internet access. Blocking svchost will break most file and connection sharing functions between PCs. The services involved will need to be disabled. Blocking svchost will also break most of UPnP universal plug and play unless all the devices have pre-assigned static IPs.

Open ports serve one purpose, to listen for and receive incoming connections. AFAIC, any system that can't be configured to prevent this is designed to be insecure, regardless of what claims they make otherwise. The services listening on these ports usually have system permissions. The firewall can be used very effectively to restrict it to only the remote IP's specifically needed for Windows up[dates, dns, dhcp, etc.
