When is dcuo going f2p

In all seriousness do any of you look at dcuo as a true f2p game? I look at it as a free to try. The sad thing is the major thing that makes it so imo is the escrow King Cisco , May 1, Oh, not at all.

Or you could sell the gear you get from your daily and weekly boxes but forget about leveling your mods. And unless you BUY additional Inventory slots forget about saving stuff on your toon or in their bank. Sure you CAN save a few things but it's a constant struggle to free up Inventory space as you quest and explore. And you can forget about doing most content unless you BUY it.

Membership DOES have it's privileges though. But even then you'll feel the need to spend money to improve your game. Elijah Seed , May 1, KneelBeforeZodd , May 1, Which is I believe by design. Lets face it DBG is a small studio, they have a limited portfolio and all of those games are F2P mmo's and their all on the lower end of revenue earners in the space. I doubt they have even come close to recouping their expenditures on Everquest Next even at this late date.

They need more wide spread, mass market advertising. But that isn't enough, at the best, very best HBOMax has at most 2 million subs who watch on a regular basis, and most of those people walk out on ads to do other things. You know what they say, you have to spend money to make money. I fully expect a uptick in players. I don't know how many people I have talked to recently who either didn't know about DCUO or had thought it had been closed long ago.

A product only survives while it's in the public mind space. As for the Cash Cap, they need to raise it to a minimum of a 1,, This makes sense to me because having played end game content enough I have at times had to spend 10's of thousands to repair my gear. So a million minimum sounds fair and gives all players access to items on Vendors many of which cost more than the current cash cap.

Also of note, so many plans. The content and narrative design teams completed narrative plans and the art and design teams fleshed out style and gear plans , both through the end of the year. Engineering began a major client and server performance task to make how we handle text strings more efficient - as in, how we store, access, and display all of the text you see on screen.

If that's not riveting enough for you, here's what is: text strings - like the one I'm writing now - use some of the oldest, least efficient code in the game and they are everywhere.

The potential for performance improvement is tremendous - a near astronomical amount of text constantly whips through the servers - but unraveling such deep code is complex. I mean, it's a twisted, hellish mess. Side note, this work is what temporarily broke the renown tab on live. The engineers are very sorry about that.

Looking ahead at the next couple of months, we will bee buzzing back into the spring seasonal event May 13 and summer seasonal event June with new rewards, launch a new time capsule , and of course have World of Flashpoint and other ongoing bonus weeks. You like them; we like them. We don't see any reason to stop!

In the next two months, the teams will continue work on our next release roughly this summer and begin the most preliminary work on the release after that roughly this fall. We will of course also continue the work on the membership update and making episodes free for everyone.

The art and community teams will work on the next phases of the Community Style Initiative. Your votes are in and I am pleased to announce that the winner is Blue Beetle Jaime Reyes as the character we will base a gear suit on!

Engineering will continue work to improve server performance, including work to address why performance degrades over time on our busier worlds and our need for daily server restarts. Fun fact, the next issue to address involves us needing more and bigger numbers in essentially all server code. Like the work on text strings above, this is also quite the undertaking in code this deep and prevalent. Apparently we use numbers even more than we use text.

Crazy right? Finally, I am pleased to share that work will begin in earnest on our PlayStation 5 native client as we continue toward a not just PS4 backwards compatible launch on this next-gen platform. Finally, looking even further ahead, we plan to launch our next two releases, introduce a new major feature , roll out that membership update and free episodes, bring back the fall seasonal event October and winter seasonal event December , and follow through on the Community Style Initiative.

They'd just assume everyone be Freemium and then instead of spending their money on a subscription, spend it on stabilizers and replay badges. Rockhound , Jun 28, FoolsFire , Jun 28, That is garbage I am an old player took a lot year break and wanted to give it another try but up to a certain point it started becoming it's own bill.

I enjoy the game, but I don't want to have to pay to win. I may end up just quitting permanently if something doesn't change. Wait, Age of Conan is still going?

DarkVisor , Jun 28, I'm just a fanboy of DC but it may be time to let go of the money grind. Wildboy , Jun 28, JasonIsley , Jun 28, But even legendary turns into a bill after you play long enough.

I believe the last dlc I was playing before I stopped was halls of power.
